Tension was released on 31 August 2023 as the second single from Kylie’s sixteenth studio album, Tension (2023).
In the UK, Tension entered at number 1 on the Singles Sales Chart, Singles Downloads Chart and Physical Singles Chart. On the Official Singles Chart, it debuted at number 19, as the highest new entry of the week, becoming Kylie’s 53rd Top 40 single.
The accompanying music video was directed by long-time collaborator Sophie Muller. It features Kylie in a futuristic control room, directing a hologram giant Kylie Minogue who dances and syncs to the track.
