Fame was Irene’s debut single as a recording artist, and taken from the Fame Soundtrack (1980).

The track found chart success in 1980 as the theme tune for the hit motion picture Fame. The song was re-released in the UK in July 1982, where it peaked at the top of the UK Singles Chart for three weeks following the debut of the Fame TV series on BBC One the previous month, becoming Britain’s third best-selling song of 1982.

Fame was written by Michael Gore and Dean Pitchford.
